Last checked: — verify pricing/features on vendor sites before buying
How We Test AI Marketing Tools
This page is the method behind every SoloStack commercial article. Until a full hands-on trial is finished for a tool, we label tables as a evaluation framework and mark prices as needing re-check.
Checklist (every tool)
- Job-to-be-done: name the reader task (e.g. “rewrite a service page in my voice”).
- Account: use free tier or time-boxed trial when available; note if paywall blocks a feature.
- Same prompts: run identical briefs across tools in the comparison set.
- Outputs: note edit time, tone control, brand-voice features, and obvious hallucinations.
- Limits & pricing: capture plan name, word/credit caps, and team seats as of the check date.
- Integrations: Chrome extension, docs, CMS, or email ESP if relevant to the article.
- Disclosure: affiliate links use
/go/placeholders until programs approve.
Scoring dimensions we use
| Dimension | What we look for |
|---|---|
| Draft quality | Usable first draft with few factual invents; easy to edit into your voice |
| Speed to “good enough” | Minutes from blank page to client-ready outline or email |
| Control | Tone, length, brand voice, templates without fighting the UI |
| Solo value | Price vs what a solo freelancer actually uses weekly |
| Trust & hygiene | Clear data policy links, export options, no dark-pattern cancel flows when we can check |
